NABV CHRISTMAS MESSAGEOrder of the Day: JESUS CHRIST IS COMING! Expected arrival date: 25 DecemberAssignment: Be Prepared to Welcome HimDuration of Duty: Begins Immediately, Lasts the Rest of Your LifeThe unknown is WHERE will Jesus come. Will He be coming to your heart? Will He be welcome in your life? Will the coming of Jesus Christ make a difference in your daily routine, your life – your world? Each year we celebrate the birth of Our Savior – but in a world of trouble, in a world where fear seems to increase with each day, in a world where basic values and morality are challenged on almost every front, we ask ourselves – what difference does the coming of Christ make? And the answer is that the difference lies with us. It all depends on how we welcome Christ, how we hear His message of peace – and love – and above all, repentance, which is a fancy word for change. As we rejoice in God’s love, as we celebrate the love of families and friends and comrades in arms, as we gather our faith to our hearts and look into a new year with confidence and hope, we ask ourselves two questions: Does the coming of Christ change us? Does the coming of Christ change OUR world? If the answer to the first question in Yes, then that too will be the answer to the second. Everyone who enters military service emerges a changed individual. The same is true when we encounter Jesus Christ in our lives. My prayer for all of our membership is that these days will be filled with peace and joy, with rest and inspiration, and that we will all move into 2022 confident that if we are with God, God most certainly will be with us. I will remember all the members of the NABV and your families in my Christmas Novena of Masses, and as we say at the end of Mass – let us go forth to love and serve the Lord, and take care of one another. In the Peace of Christ, Fr. John R. Sheehan, SJNational Chaplain
